By SLI 82, 2014 dated 12 June 2014 the Migration Regulations were amended as described below in the Explanatory Memorandum:
Schedule 3 - Amendments relating to skills assessment validity
The amendments in Schedule 3 are designed to ensure that skills assessments issued by either assessing authorities or relevant assessing authorities for the purpose of visa applications are only valid for a period of 3 years, or if a shorter validity period is specified in the assessment, for that shorter period.
Assessing authorities and relevant assessing authorities assess the suitability of an applicant's skills according to different criteria depending on the type of visa applied for.

The amendments apply to all visa applications made on or after 1 July 2014.
The amendments do not apply to subclass 457 visas

NSW government released information regarding its State Migration Plan for this financial year.
Fortunately the occupation list will remain unchanged (except for the additional occupations) for all those Accountants and Nurses (etc) waiting out there.
However you will note in the table below that NSW plan four distinct application windows and at the beginning of the start of each period there may be changes to the occupation list.
Key points about the program in 2014/15 are:
Applications for 2014-15 will be lodged electronically through a new online system
Applications will be open for four intakes per year with a maximum of 1000 applications per intake
Application intakes will remain open for 4-6 weeks
The NSW Skilled Occupation List will be expanded and will include all occupations on the 2013/14 NSW Skilled Occupation List as well as those occupations added to the SOL by AWPA in 2014 ( such as chef, Bricklayer, Wall and Floor Tiler).
